Birmingham headlines 13th Feb: Birmingham City Council apologises after letters ‘caused residents anxiety’

First - Birmingham City Council was forced to apologise after sending Council Tax letters which caused recipients 'anxiety'. The letters asked residents to fill in an online form or face having their single person discount cancelled. Critics pointed out the letters may have worried those who aren't able to access the internet.

Next - Counter-terrorism officers have charged a second teenager in the West Midlands as part of an ongoing investigation. The eighteen year old suspect from Birmingham is expected to appear in Westminster Crown Court.

And finally - around a hundred passengers were left stuck at Birmingham Airport for up to five hours after a flight was cancelled due to a bad smell. Travellers hoping to catch the EasyJet flight from Birmingham to Geneva were told to disembark the aircraft after the pilot detected an unidentified "funny smell".
