00:00 So the bidding starts today for the auction of this iconic building in Fleetwood.
00:07 It's an old radar training station which served for decades as a base for coastal busters and crews in the latest radar technology.
00:16 It has a guide price of £50,000 so it will be interesting to see how much it goes for and ultimately what becomes of it.
00:28 Built in 1961, the Grade II listed building stands right next to the town's Victorian lighthouse and promenade.
00:38 It's a single storey oval shaped building with a reinforced concrete flat roof and it's raised right above the level of high tide creating amazing views of Morecambe Bay and the Lake District.
00:57 It's a really historic building and it was built by Lancashire County Council's architects in 1961.
01:05 It was eventually transferred to Blackpool and the Fylde College in 1996.
01:10 As you can see the views out of the window at the front show you right down the beach and part of Fleetwood promenade as well as the sea and of course Morecambe Bay and the Lake District as I've already mentioned.
01:40 The inside has definitely seen better days as you can see and renovation is needed to restore it.
01:46 The new owner will be required to complete the work and will also need to apply to the council to vary the covenant which stipulates it's used as a radar instruction centre.
01:59 It's iconic status and distinguished naval history has sparked so much interest locally. It really will be interesting to see how many people put lives in it and what it comes.
