00:00So Dan, you're coming to Blackpool in December with the Wombats. Can I ask you about that?
00:06Yeah, I'm really excited. We've played Empress Ballroom at least once, maybe twice.
00:15I don't know. But I know we've definitely played there.
00:18And my memory of it from when we played was amazing energy, like almost unexpected kind of like energy levels.
00:28Beautiful room, you know, and the floor, I believe, is like, I just remember that the whole thing was like bouncing.
00:37I think it's a sprung dance floor or something from like, you know, back in the day.
00:43So the people in the crowd, maybe that's why they get extra, you know, height on all the jumps and the crowd surfing and the mosh pits were very, very bouncy.
00:53So I can't wait to come and play there.
00:55And like growing up as well in Liverpool, obviously, we spent, you know, many a summer's day on the old Pepsi Max and at the Blackpool, like fun fair and stuff.
01:09And so, yeah, no, it's going to be going to be good fun.
01:12Whilst you're up again, will you be going on the Pepsi Max ride?
01:15Possibly. Yeah, if we've got time, why not?
01:20I just, I always remember that first bit.
01:23I remember getting to an age where like some kids at school would be like, you know, oh, I did the Pepsi Max.
01:28And it was like, oh, haven't done it.
01:30It was like a little test of like, you just needed to just do it.
01:33And that first bit, like really rickety around the top, isn't it?
01:38And like the drop, it's a good one.
01:40Yeah, no, I'll definitely try and do it.
01:43And obviously Blackpool's one of only six new dates that you added.
01:47Why did you include Blackpool in that?
01:49Again, just like we've had a great experience there in the past.
01:54And I think we've always sort of hoped that it would work at some point.
01:59And our agents and promoters in the area, I guess, were like, hey, there's an available date.
02:04You want to play on, you're on tour.
02:06What about this?
02:07And obviously we jumped at the chance to do it.
02:10So, yeah, it's going to be good.
02:13Maybe talk more about the show then.
02:14What can audiences expect?
02:16Well, obviously it's quite a way in the distance.
02:22So, not 100% sure.
02:24But I imagine that like it's kind of an extension of the tour we just did.
02:29But this one went really well.
02:31So, you know, we were sort of like, oh, we could do some more gigs.
02:35And so we booked it in.
02:37And psychedelic kind of onstage backdrop.
02:43And like, it's all fur.
02:46And our lighting designer, Rosie, she's done a great job at kind of making it look very unique.
02:54And the way the lights like hit the fur kind of makes it look like there's like waves at times and then just weird textures.
03:02And our front of house guy did mention Frank Zappa when he was like trying to describe what it looks like.
03:08But then, to be honest, like just high energy.
03:11We played quite a few new songs from the new album, Oh, the Ocean, which has obviously only just come out.
03:18But we played quite a few from that.
03:20And then it's kind of greatest hits after that, really.
03:23Why should they get tickets to see a new show?
03:25I think if you like live music and like singing along in a crowd to a load of like fun, high energy songs, you know, dancing your blues away.
03:41And I think genuinely like I've never seen a Wombats gig because I'm, you know, I'm on stage.
03:46But from what I hear, it's a really fun night and I would say, yeah, just get a ticket and come and see for yourself if you've never seen us before.
03:58And if you have seen us, then listen to our new album.
04:02And, you know, if you like any of the songs, then we'll be playing them.
04:05So come and hear them live.
04:07They're usually like even more energetic than they are on the album because we always get excited and they get a bit faster and more heavy.
