00:04 My mom found her.
00:06 She picks up the kitten and the kitten was covered in fleas.
00:09 When she found the cat, I said, okay, this is your cat, I'll pay for whatever.
00:14 You're responsible for the cat.
00:16 She was walking with Penny.
00:18 My mom called her Penny.
00:20 It reminded her of a tangerine.
00:21 [MUSIC]
00:24 My mom's always been a very strong woman because she had to survive,
00:27 get into this country with nothing.
00:29 As you get older, you change.
00:30 She's become very soft.
00:32 [MUSIC]
00:38 And she was just obsessed.
00:39 [MUSIC]
00:49 I didn't think I wanted a cat.
00:50 When I saw Penny fell in love with her, I was like, no, here we go, we have a cat.

00:55 I was just so excited to play with her.
00:58 [MUSIC]
00:59 I would find her biting Penny's toes and Penny was okay with it.

01:06 I originally wanted to get Penny a puppy, but she was just in love with her.
01:11 Tangy is the baby sister that Penny never knew she needed.

01:16 She was never close to any cat.
01:18 [MUSIC]
01:21 Their relationship was just so surprising and unexpected.

01:29 And it just kept going over time.

01:39 One, two, three, go get it.
01:41 I don't remember my other cats doing this, but she would fetch.

01:46 Penny, are you with your bestie?

01:51 Over a year later, they still cuddle, they still play every day.

01:57 They do basically everything together.

02:02 It was nice seeing how she unfolded a beautiful relationship with a cat.

02:08 That's something that we never planned.
02:11 Tangy was found in a place where her outcome could have been different.
02:16 Penny is lovable and very affectionate with us.
02:19 But I've never seen that same love towards another animal.

02:32 All it took was this tiny orange kitten to take care of.
