Chrissy Teigen and many others were not a fan of the Emmys red carpet…literally. Teigen expressed disapproval over the ceremony’s rather distracting venue decor. Writing in an Instagram story she said she was "begging award shows to have better looking step and repeats…it seems so simple. Some floral and simplicity. God I pray." Others also agreed. a longtime event photographer tells The Hollywood Reporter, "The backdrop was ugly. I understand Fox and the Emmys want their signage, but less is more on the carpet. 00:19 When television's biggest names arrived at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on January 15,
00:24 they were met with a silver carpet and black backdrop, also known as a step-and-repeat,
00:28 decorated with the words "Fox and Emmys."
00:31 Others also agreed with Teigen. A longtime event photographer tells The Hollywood Reporter,
00:36 "The backdrop was ugly. I understand Fox and the Emmys want their signage,
00:39 but less is more on the carpet. It's hard to make everybody happy,
00:42 but elegance and not too much pattern is better."
00:45 Some social media users also argued that the backdrop looked unfinished.
00:49 "The Emmy's step-and-repeat looks like the construction site of a luxury building

00:56 The Emmy's red carpet isn't the first time stars have taken issue with event decor.
01:00 Last year's Oscars' pale beige champagne carpet also caused a stir after changing
01:05 from its traditional red. Jamie Lee Curtis, who went on to take home the Oscar for Best
01:10 Supporting Actress that night, tweeted a day before that "their carpet is going to match
