00:00 Buckingham Palace says it's exploring all options, including possible legal proceedings,
00:04 following a publishing error that led to the naming of the two royals alleged to have discussed
00:08 the skin color of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son, Archie.
00:13 A Palace spokesperson made the comments to the BBC on Friday in the wake of the revelations,
00:18 which named King Charles and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, as the senior royals
00:22 who allegedly had conversations with Prince Harry about his and Markle's then-unborn baby.
00:27 The alleged discussions about the baby's skin color first came up in the high-profile interview
00:32 the royal couple did with Oprah Winfrey back in March of 2021.
00:35 The two royals were named in a Dutch version of journalist Omid Scobie's book Endgame
00:39 Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival.
00:43 Scobie repeated the allegations in the original English version of his book, but did not name
00:47 names.
00:48 In an interview with the BBC on Thursday night, Scobie said he did not know how the Dutch
00:51 translation of the book came to include the names, and that a full investigation was being
00:56 carried out to find out the cause of the error.
00:58 Speaking to commercial network ITV, Scobie insisted he had never submitted a book that
01:03 had their names in it, and also claimed this.
01:05 "The reality is though, is that this is information that is not privy just to me.
01:11 Journalists across Fleet Street have known those names for a long time.
01:15 We've all followed a certain code of conduct when it comes to talking about it."
01:19 The UK has very strict libel laws, and the allegations could be deemed defamation, depending
01:24 on what a court found.
01:25 The Dutch version of Endgame that includes the names has been pulled from shelves.
01:29 A new version without the names will come out in the Netherlands on Friday.
