A man has been jailed after he broke into a woman's home, sexually assaulted her and stole her purse. Anthony Shackleton, 33 has received a five years and 10 months custodial sentence with an added four years to be served on licence on his release. He is also on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

Merseyside is served by an "outstanding" fire service that is area leading on prevention, according to emergency service inspectors. The service covers more than 250 square miles and dealt with almost 19,000 incidents last year. Of the 23 stations, 13 are crewed around the clock, seven days a week.

Plans for a new a new U-Boat Story museum have been unveiled. The immersive visitor experience will be on the current site next to the Woodside Ferry Terminal in Birkenhead. The proposal is being funded by £19m of Levelling Up funding provided by the government.
