Liverpool City Region's Metro Mayor required police protection outside his home after receiving a barrage of abuse over COVID-19 lockdowns. Giving evidence at the UK Covid-19 inquiry on Monday, Steve Rotheram said how then Prime Minister Boris Johnson reneged on a deal to manage messaging over the impact of the tiering system, leading to abusive messages online and police stationed outside his home.

"Short, snappy fun games" are being used in Wirral schools to help stop children from getting caught up in crime. Since the In the Zone programme was rolled out two years ago, there has been a nearly 27% reduction in young people entering the justice system this year.

Night buses are to return for commuters between Liverpool and the Wirral as part of a new trial. The N1, operated by Stagecoach, will enter service on Friday, December 8, just after midnight, with buses running every hour until around 5 am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
