Hezbollah says it fired missiles from Lebanon into Israel

00:00 Let's look at another front in this emerging conflict. Hezbollah has said it's fired missiles

00:05 on Israel from the south of Lebanon today and Israel has responded with retaliatory

00:10 fire. Lebanese media is reporting that two civilians on their side of the border have

00:15 been injured today. Well, let's go live then to the south of Lebanon. Correspondent Rawad

00:21 Taha joins me on the programme. He's not far from the border. Rawad, tell us where you

00:27 are and what's been happening today. Currently, I'm in Marjayoun, which is located roughly

00:33 around three kilometres away from the border with the state of Israel. This side of the

00:39 border has been fairly stable. Most of the artillery and the firing has been on the western

00:44 side of the border today. So as you mentioned, a number of rockets were fired by Hezbollah

00:50 targeting an Israeli site in the northern Galil. Israel has retaliated with strikes

00:58 and shelling that targeted the outskirts of a Lebanese town. However, a number of homes

01:05 were damaged and the report of three injuries up until this moment. However, for the last

01:11 couple of hours after that incident, the border has returned to stability. So this is what

01:16 we've been seeing over the past few days. Hours of instability, rockets fired, mostly

01:22 claimed by Palestinian militias, Israeli retaliation to those rockets fired and then Hezbollah

01:28 retaliates only after Israel retaliates to their positions. So it seems like this has

01:36 been the case for the past three days. Not any wide, wide escalation, but of course it's

01:41 a very tense situation. And as you see behind me, not a lot of people on the street, not

01:46 a lot of car movement. So a lot of people in the towns bordering Israel have left the

01:52 area. I was going to ask you about that then. So you're saying people are starting to leave

01:58 some of these areas near the Israeli border. Presumably then they're fearful of a further

02:03 flare up of violence. Sadly, this is the case. While some stores and some supermarkets were

02:10 still open today, a lot of the stores we passed by were still mostly closed. The border towns

02:18 are usually the towns of which people have already started leaving gradually over the

02:23 past three days. So I think after the first incident, everyone thought it was just one

02:27 incident and there won't be a spillover. But with this continuous round of incidents over

02:32 the past three days, a lot of people have decided to leave. This is only the case for

02:35 the towns that are very close to the border. The rest of the towns in southern Lebanon

02:40 are still fully functional, if I may say.
