00:18 Since then, Ferrari has replaced the 458

00:26 101 screaming Italian stallion,

00:29 bringing the total up to 661 horsepower.

00:32 It's still mid-engine, still rear wheel drive,

02:45 And then it just comes ripping off the corners.

02:50 give it a big, fat torque curve.

02:54 I used a stability control.

02:55 It's called the CT off mode.

02:57 It allowed me to do these beautiful drifts

03:04 The brakes, I didn't find confidence inspiring.

03:06 Mostly I just had to brake earlier than I really wanted to,

03:10 probably because I was going so bloody fast.

03:13 The acceleration is outrageous and the car is a thrill.

03:20 One minute, 31.68 seconds is not just a fast lap.

03:25 It's about one second off cars like the McLaren P1

03:28 and the Dodge Viper ACR.

03:30 The 488 is two seconds off of the Porsche 918 Spyder,

03:33 the current lap record holder

03:35 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

03:37 Needless to say, the Ferrari was the quickest car

03:39 of this year's competition.

03:41 Raw speed on a track is one thing,

03:42 but this is best driver's car.

03:44 The 488 GTB won that as well.
