Rekomendasyon ng NBI laban sa mga sangkot sa smuggling ng sibuyas, naisumite na sa DOJ
Transcript
00:00 The National Bureau of Investigation discovered the possible conspiracy of an official of the government and a private cooperative.
00:10 That's why the price of onions went up last year.
00:14 This is the story of Louisa Erispe.
00:16 Almost two months after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered to investigate
00:25 who is behind the smuggling and hoarding of onions in the country, it was done.
00:30 The National Bureau of Investigation submitted their recommendation to the Department of Justice
00:37 on the cases that should be filed on the items here.
00:40 Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia said that
00:43 hoarding and profiteering are the possible first complaints that they will receive.
00:48 This is just one of the cases that was filed.
00:53 DOJ, this is for hoarding and profiteering.
00:57 But there will be other cases that will be filed by the DOJ up to the point of economic sabotage.
01:04 Based on the report of the NBI, the chief of the MODUS saw that the price of onions started to go up
01:13 to more than P500 in December 2022.
01:17 He was surprised because the cost production will reach P8 to P15 and it will be far from the farmgate price.
01:26 The NBI also saw that there could be sabotage by several government officials and a private corporation.
01:35 In December 2022, the sale of onions, about P8,000 to the FDI system from a private co-op,
01:46 will reach P500. This is not the basis for forming a profiteering.
01:51 As I said, there are no stocks available. When we were tracked, we found that there are stocks.
01:58 The MODUS did a procurement and submitted three bids.
02:04 But actually, three bids, one bid is enough. Two bids were actually good issues to win the procurement.
02:11 DOJ has not yet determined who are the people behind the hoarding.
02:16 But Remulia said that there are six names who joined the investigation and some of them are government officials.
02:25 The government officials are with us because we think that they are the ones who are the ones who are leading the discussion on this issue.
02:36 For now, DOJ will wait for the NBI to submit their report before they continue to file complaints.
02:43 But Remulia promised that they will not stop until all the evidence and the case in court is heard.
02:51 Luisa Erispe, for the nation.
