Ukraine war: Danish PM Fredriksson and US Secretary of State Blinken visit Kyiv

00:00 U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has traveled by train to Kiev on an unannounced

00:05 two-day visit.

00:07 It comes just hours after Russia launched its first missile attack in a week against

00:12 the Ukrainian capital.

00:14 He held talks with Ukraine`s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and is expected to meet with

00:18 the President and Prime Minister.

00:21 The visit is seen as a gesture of support as the country`s three-months-old counteroffensive

00:26 against Moscow`s forces grinds on with only small gains.

00:30 I`m here first and foremost to demonstrate our ongoing and determined support for Ukraine

00:40 as it deals with this aggression.

00:43 We`ve seen good progress in the counteroffensive.

00:46 It`s very hard.

00:49 We want to make sure that Ukraine has what it needs not only to succeed in the counteroffensive,

00:54 but has what it needs for the long term to make sure that it has a strong deterrent,

00:58 strong defense capacity, so that in the future, aggressions like this don`t happen again.
