Zoo — Zoo 1969 (France, Psychedelic/Jazz/Blues Rock)
  • last year
Debut album by a French band formed in 1968. Starting work in the studio on April 16, 1969, the musicians recorded 8 songs in 2 days, which were included in the album of the same name. In November of the same year, the group took part in the festival in the Belgian city of Amougies, along with Pink Floyd, Colosseum, The Nice, East Of Eden, Frank Zappa and others. In 1970, before the release of the second album from Joël Daydé and Pierre Fanen leave the group due to musical differences, and the Englishman Ian Bellamy takes the place of the vocalist. The second album was recorded from June 12 to September 9, 1970, later getting the opportunity to be promoted on the two largest radio stations in New York - WOR-FM and WABC-FM. Despite appearing at many major festivals, they were unable to make an international career and, due to lack of commercial success, the band disbanded at the end of 1972. André and Michel Hervé, together with their brothers Joel and Stephan, later founded the group ZOU (Zon Orchestra Unlimited). Violinist and trombonist Michel Ripoche has released two solo albums.
