Maharashtra: Eknath Shinde Backed by BJP Wins Trust Vote In Vidhan Sabha

Newly sworn-in Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde has won the trust vote in the Vidhan Sabha. His faction of 40 MLAs from the Shiv Sena was backed BJP’s 105 MLAs and a handful of independent MLAs. While Eknath Shinde camp received 164 votes, the Opposition camp of NCP, Congress, SP MLAs got 99. Key names from the opposition such as Congress' Vijay Wadettiwar, Zeeshan Siddiqui, and former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan did not show up for the vote. Aaditya Thackeray, son of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, voted against the whip issued by the Shiv Sena chief whip Bharat Gogawale.
