ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಾಯು ಸೇನೆಗೆ ಬಲ ತುಂಬುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಎರಡು ಮೆಗಾ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮ್ಮತಿ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆರು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ ಏರ್ಬೋರ್ನ್ ಅರ್ಲಿ ವಾರ್ನಿಂಗ್ ಅಂಡ್ ಕಂಟ್ರೋಲ್ ಏರ್ಕ್ರಾಫ್ಟ್ (AEW&C) ಮತ್ತು 56 C-295 ವಿಮಾನಗಳು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಆ ಪೈಕಿ 40 ಅನ್ನು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲೇ ಏರ್ಬಸ್- ಟಾಟಾ ಜತೆಯಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಿದೆ.
About 16 of the aircraft will be delivered within 48 months of signing the contract in a flyway condition while the remaining will be manufactured in India by the TATA Consortium within ten years of the signing of the contract
