Mangalore Buns is a popular breakfast or tea time snacks in the Udupi-Mangalore region of Karnataka, India. This food belongs to Tulu Mangalorean cuisine or Udupi cuisine. The buns are mild sweet, soft fluffy puris made using all purpose flour and banana. These buns are also called as banana buns or pooris. Typically served with a spicy coconut chutney and sambar.

These Mangalore Buns use whole wheat flour, and are best made using slightly over-ripe bananas. A sprinkling of jeera or cumin seeds gives a break from the sweet flavour, making it a delightful tea time snack. Serve these with hot tea or coffee for an evening treat.

Notes:

The moisture from bananas and curds is enough to knead the dough. There is no need to add water while kneading the dough.
Instead of Maida, these buns can be made using whole-wheat flour too.
