No one makes sweet and sour pork like Du Yaying. In Xiamen, China, her hole-in-the-wall is so popular that people line up early to get a seat. But for Du, street food is more than just a business—it was also her salvation after serving time in prison.

This is the second episode of our new six-part series about established mom-and-pop eateries in China. In the next episode, we’ll head to a small food stall in Hong Kong, where the famous dish is a type of dumpling called shumai. Stay tuned!
