The UK, the U.S., Canada have begun vaccinating the first of their populations against Covid-19.
South Korea today vowed to do all that it can to secure pre-purchased vaccine doses within the first three months of the new year.
Choi Won-jong has the details.
The South Korean government held a meeting on Tuesday to review its progress and plans for securing COVID-19 vaccines.
With the public raising concerns about delays, the prime minister said the plan is to secure pre-purchased vaccines as soon as the first quarter of the new year.
"Some countries have rushed to vaccinate people as the pandemic gets worse. We are doing our best to ensure that vaccinations here are not delayed and that we secure enough vaccines as soon as possible."
In the meeting, the government said it will continue to secure more effective vaccines on the top of the ones they've already signed deals for.
They will also give the public updates on the vaccines every week.
In the United States, the White House has announced which Americans will get vaccines first.
A spokesperson said on Monday that these would include officials in the White House situation room and certain members of Congress... as well as frontline workers and residents in long-term care facilities.
President Trump, however, will not be among them.
He tweeted that he is not scheduled to get the vaccine and will look forward to getting it at the appropriate time.
Canada began a mass vaccination campaign on Monday,... giving the shot made by Pfizer and BioNTech to frontline healthcare staff and residents of long-term care homes.
Canada aims to vaccinate three million people by the first quarter of 2021... and about half the country by June.
In China, a vaccine black market is emerging.
According to the Global Times, scalpers are using social media to offering doses at many times the price at a hospital... or claiming to be able to put people at the front of the line.
The scalpers are apparently targeting Chinese nationals overseas too.
The authorities are reportedly investigating whether there are fake vaccines circulating abroad.
