Amidst the pandemic, hundreds of thousands high school seniors and those seeking higher education in this country are bracing for the annual national college entrance exam tomorrow.
On the eve of the exam, high school seniors normally visit their test venues to collect their exam admission tickets but this was one of the many test procedures changed this year due to the pandemic.
Test takers with symptoms will also be able to get their COVID-19 test results within a few hours.
Bae Eun-ji has more.
Students line up at this high school in Seoul... to receive their admission ticket for the big exam.
"I printed this out for you to read before the test... do well on your exam "
"On the day before the national college entrance exam, test-takers are required to get their admission documents from their school."
The admission ticket holds information about where the student will take the exam the next day.
But unlike other years, students this year are not allowed to enter the school building to get these documents... to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
"Every year, students would get the instructions and their admission tickets from their teachers in their classrooms, and 1st and 2nd graders would cheer for the test takers... but unfortunately, we couldn't do any of this because of the pandemic this year."
Those in self-quarantine can have their family members or teachers get the documents for them.
"It's been a tough year with COVID-19. But I hope I do well on the exam after all the hard work I put in so far."
For test takers who have symptoms, a rapid COVID-19 testing system will be available starting Wednesday.
The results will be given in less than four hours, and the testing centers will be open nationwide until 10 PM.
The government will also increase public transport to help students get to their test centers on time, and it has banned flight landings during listening tests.
The test starts at 8:40 AM, so in Seoul, subways will run more often from 6 to 10 AM, and there will be more buses from 6 to 8:10 AM.
More than 490-thousand students will be taking the exam this year.
