The United States will make a decision 'shortly' on jumpstarting its frozen economy amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
U.S. President Trump told the daily White House coronavirus briefing on Monday that the administration was finalizing a plan to reopen the economy.
“We want to make sure there are incentives for restaurants, entertainment, people to get back to those types of things. So, we'll be looking at very specific provisions to stimulate parts of the economy.”
President Trump said he has "total" authority and that he believes the economy will "boom" once he gives it the green light.
But, a group of Democratic governors, including New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, plans to begin drawing up their own plans, criticizing the Trump administration.
As of Tuesday, the U.S. has more than 580-thousand confirmed cases, with over 23-thousand deaths.
