문 대통령, 임정 101주년 기념식 참석… "코로나 넘어 더 큰 위기 와도 국민 힘으로 극복"

President Moon Jae-in says South Korea will be able to overcome the COVID-19 crisis through the unity of the people based on the spirit of independence.
He spoke at a ceremony to mark the 101st anniversary since the establishment of Korea's provisional government,... back when Imperial Japan ruled the Peninsula.
Moon said that the spirit of the people has served as a source of courage for Koreans during trying times.
Social and economic crises that we face down the line beyond COVID-19 may be even greater. But whatever the crisis is, we will overcome it again through the unified power of the people. I can feel the tough spirit of the independence patriots, that didn't waver despite any form of hardship, is in the hearts of our people.
Moon also attended a groundbreaking ceremony of a memorial hall for the provisional government which he said was to keep the spirit alive and to remember history.
The president stressed that the independence movement would be confirmed as the "mainstream" of the country's history,... not pro-Japanese acts during the colonial era.
The government-in-exile was launched on April 11th, 1919 in Shanghai... by a group of independence fighters,... following a nationwide resistance movement against Japan's colonial rule the same year.
