The international calls to lift the U.S blockade against Cuba have gained further strength as the country's medical personnel have mobilized to help other countries around the world in the fight against the novel coronavirus, similar calls have been issued to lift the sanctions on Venezuela, Syria and Iran. The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in countries of Latin America, where neoliberal governments have shown their incapacity to handle the crisis, the number of fatalities in Ecuador is unknown, while Chile now has more than 300 confirmed cases. The coronavirus pandemic has claimed more than 30,000 lives in Europe alone, the head of the United Nations has described this as humanity's worst crisis since World War II.
