U.S. should view talks as way to resolve insecurity between nuclear powers: Choson Sinbo
- 5 years ago
A North Korean newspaper on Saturday said that Pyeongyang's latest missile test has become a new nuclear deterrent against the United States.
Choson Sinbo said the North's successful test of what it claimed was a "new-type SLBM Pukguksong-3" provides the regime with another nuclear deterrent.
The newspaper claimed that as a result of the North's successful test, the U.S. needs to treat its talks with Pyeongyang as a process of resolving security instability between nuclear powers rather than expecting the regime to denuclearize first and then receive compensation.
Following the North's SLBM test, the U.S. flew an E-8C surveillance aircraft over areas near the Korean Peninsula for the first time since 2018 on an apparent mission to collect intelligence regarding North Korea.
