N. Korean leader says Pyeongyang will wait patiently to solve issues on Korean Peninsula

We start with the big summit in Pyeongyang on Thursday.
In the first trip to the North Korean capital by a Chinese leader in 14 years, Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed with his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un that they need to continue to cooperate to solve key issues on the Korean Peninsula.
Our foreign affairs correspondent Lee Ji-won is live on the line.
Jiwon, Chinese media reports Kim told Xi that he's willing to meet the U.S. halfway?
Connyoung, according to what's been reported by China's state-run CCTV, it seems like Kim Jong-un shared his concerns about the regime's stalled denuclearization talks with the U.S., to which President Xi said China will help.
Kim reportedly said the regime has been taking lots of active measures first, to ease the tension in the region over the past year, but it hasn't received positive responses from the "party concerned", which is not what the North wants to see.
The "party concerned",... namely the United States.
However, Kim added the North remains patient, while hoping the U.S. will work with Pyeongyang to find solutions that accommodate each other's legitimate concerns and push for results from the dialogue process.
He also said the North highly appreciates the important role China has played in solving the Korean Peninsula issue, adding Pyeongyang will continue working and communicating with Beijing, to move toward a political settlement.
To that, Chinese President Xi Jinping said the issue is highly sensitive and complex and a strategic and long-term perspective is required.
He added China is willing to provide assistance within its capacity to address North Korea's legitimate security and development concerns.
He added Beijing will work with Pyeongyang as well as other relevant parties to play a positive and constructive role in achieving the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and long-term stability in the region.
The two leaders also lauded their friendship, and Xi promised to share their experience in economic and other areas.

Well while we're still missing details on the summit, we were able to identify the participants through video footage provided by CCTV.
Also in the room were Choe Ryong-hae, 1st vice chairman of the State Affairs Commission and foreign minister Ri Yong-ho on the North's side,... and Ding Xuexiang, director of the General Office of the Communist Party and foreign minister Wang Yi on the Chinese side.
Before President Xi heads back later on this Friday, we are expecting the two leaders to hold another meeting, but we'll have to wait to hear about that.
According to what China revealed earlier, the two leaders are to visit the Sino-Korean Friendship Tower, which is known as the symbol of the allies' friendship. This is then likely to be followed by a luncheon.
