Andre Romelle Young known professionally as Dr. Dre was born on February 18. 1965 in Compton, California. Born to teenaged parents who aspired to be singers, he would go on to perform as a hip-hop DJ as part of World Class Wreckin’ Cru. His pseudonym 'Dr. Dre' was partly inspired by the basketball star Julius "Dr. J. " Erving. In 1986, he joined NWA (Niggaz With Attitude) and co-founded 'Death Row Records' with fellow rappers Eazy-E and Ice Cube. The group's second album 'Straight Outta Compton' was a breakthrough for the gangsta rap movement. In 1992, he released his debut album 'The Chronic', which introduced the 'G-funk' production style and reminisced Tupac. He quit the group 'Death Row Records' in 1996 to form Aftermath Records. In the year 2000, he solely focused on the production to launch the career of Eminem. He released his third album in 2015, inspired by the movie 'NWA: Straight Outta Compton' which told the story of the group. Today his fortune is estimated to be worth more than 800 million dollars.
