Lil Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. on September 27, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1993, at the young age of 11, he was discovered by Bryan Williams and joined 'Cash Money Records' as the youngest member of the group. And in 1996, he joined the southern hip-hop group 'Hot Boys' and came out with two albums. Most of the success of the group came with the platinum-selling album 'Guerilla Warfare'. The same year he launched his solo debut album 'Tha Block Is Hot', in which the title track was a big hit and the album reached the top of the hip-hop charts. Wayne gained prominence with his 6th album 'Tha Carter III' in 2008, which became his most successful album till date. Riding high on success, he decided to experiment and came up with a rock-esque album titled 'Rebirth' in 2010. In the same year, he served an 8-month jail sentence for the criminal possession of a weapon. He released his 12th studio albums after multiple delays in 2018, which featured stars such as Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj. Lil Wayne announced that it would be the last album of his career, he has sold more than 100 million records worldwide making him one of the best-selling artist of all-time.
