Seoul City plans to use a new taximeter app, and will submit the details to the Ministry of Science and ICT's regulatory sandbox for review.
The "Seoul Hybrid Taxi App Meter", developed by Korea Smart Card, …which operates card payments for taxis, …will be reviewed by the system which exempts products from regulations during their development and testing period.
If approved, the city plans to apply the app to seven thousand taxis for two years starting June.
The app uses a smartphone's GPS to calculate distance and fares.
