Seoul City clamping down on gender-based wage gap
  • 5 years ago
The Seoul City Government is clamping down on gender-based wage discrepancies.
The local government said Friday that it will begin requiring firms to disclose their employees' salaries,... so authorities can work on ways to narrow the gap.
Seoul will implement the initiative at 23 companies first, before the disclosure policy takes full effect in October.
According to government data, South Korean women are paid roughly 37 percent less than men.
The gender-based wage gap in South Korea has been the highest among OECD countries for 16 years.
