Along with the recent rise in measles cases in Korea, the number of cases reported worldwide last year has doubled from the previous year.
According to the World Health Organization on Thursday, 2-hundred-29-thousand cases of measles were reported across the globe in 2018.
The WHO said that the number of measles cases reported is less than one tenth of actual number of cases and estimated more than 2-million people had contracted measles last year.
Europe had 82-thousand-six-hundred reported cases, accounting for one-third of all cases worldwide.
The WHO said that as measles is highly contagious, getting vaccinated from the disease is crucial.
