The number of measles cases recorded 110-thousand worldwide in the first quarter of 2019 - a 300-percent increase from the same period last year.
This is according to the World Health Organization,... which also said the actual number of cases could be much higher... as fewer than one in ten are reported to the agency.
The WHO said higher rates of the contagious disease that can kill children or leave them blind, deaf or brain-damaged have been reported in all regions of the world.
The UN agency added the current worldwide vaccination coverage at 85 percent should go up to 95 percent to maximize protection against measles.
