Choi Young-ae appointed as first female chief of National Human Rights Commission of Korea

President Moon Jae-in has appointed Choi Young-ae as the new head of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.
Choi was invited to the Blue House Tuesday morning, where she received the certificate of appointment from President Moon.
Her appointment comes one day after the National Assembly adopted a report on her confirmation hearing.
Choi,...the former chief director of ‘Women's Human Rights Defenders,’ a non-profit organization seeking to improve rights for both South and North Korean women, becomes the first female chairperson of the nation's human rights watchdog.
