Ingredients:- For Misal Masala:- Oil Grated Dry Coconut Chopped Onions Cumin Seeds Coriander Seeds Chopped Tomatoes Garam Masala/Godaa Masala Chopped Ginger Chopped Garlic Chopped Green Chilli Red Chilli Powder Turmeric Powder Water Coriander Leaves
For Kaanda Pohaa:- Mustarf Seeds Curry Leaves Chopped Onions Green Chillies Turmeric Powder Flattened Rice (Soaked in water for a minute)
For Misal:- Oil Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder Misal Masala Salt Soaked Green Gram Soaked Moth Bean Jaggery (as per taste)
Method:- In a pan heat oil and fry the coconut. In a separate pan fry the onions. After the coconut turns golden brown add cumin seeds, coriander seeds and the fried onions. Mix everything well and let it cool down to room temperature. Once cooled, add it to the mixer/grinder with tomatoes, garam masala, ginger, garlic, green chilli, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, water and coriander leaves. Grind all this to a fine paste.
The Kaanda Pohaa:- In a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds crackle, add onions, green chillies, turmeric powder, flattened rice, salt, sugar and lemon juice. Mix it well and keep aside,
The Misal:- In a pan heat a generous amount of oil and add bay leaf, Kashmiri red chilli powder and the Misal Masala followed by water, salt, green gram, moth bean and let it cook on 10-12 minutes on medium flame. Add jaggery if required.
Spicy Misal is ready to serve with pav, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, a wedge of lime and some farsaan on top. HAPPY COOKING!!!
