Bashkimi evropian do te detyroje Serbinë qe te njohe Kosovën përpara anëtarësimit ne union. Kështu është shprehur raportuesi special i parlamentit evropian per Ballkanin perëndimor, Hannes Swoboda, gjate një interviste per te përditshmen kroate Dnevnik. Eurodeputeti tha se nje nder kriteret e BE-se është fqinjësia e mire. "Njohja e Kosovës duhet te ndodhe ne fund. Ky nuk është kusht i drejtpërdrejt ne procesin e anëtarësimit ne BE. Por, para se Serbia te behet anëtare ne BE, natyrisht qe do te detyrohet ta njoh Kosovën si pjese e kritereve për marrëdhënie pozitive ndërfqinjesore. Ne këtë moment është me rendësi te vazhdohet dialogu mes Beogradit dhe Prishtinës. Ndërsa, për Serbinë do te ishte mire t'i pranoje faktet". Swoboda tha se Serbia ne pranverën e vitit te ardhshëm mund ta marre datën për fillimin e negociatave me BE-ne dhe gjate kësaj kohe duhet te beje kujdes me politikat radikale.
