Vuk Jeremic është zyrtarisht presidenti i ri i asamblesë se përgjithshme te Organizatës se Kombeve te Bashkuara. Jeremic ka drejtuar sesionin e 67-të vjetor te asamblesë ku ka mbajtur dhe një fjalim te tij. "Qëndroj ne krye te këtij institucioni prestigjioz dhe zotohem se do te përmbush me përgjegjësi çështjen e përbashkët te Kombeve te Bashkuara. Do te respektoj ne mënyrë te plote sovranitetin dhe barazinë e te gjitha vendeve anëtare", mësohet te ketë thënë Jeremic pas marrjes se detyrës se tij. Me herët, mediat ne Kosovë kane shprehur shqetësimin se Jeremic do te përdorë pushtetin e tij për te frenuar disi rritjen e numrit te njohjes se Kosovës, tashme qe i është dhënë fund pavarësisë se mbikëqyrur. Shteti me i ri ne Ballkan është njohur nga mbi 90 shtete dhe i duhet njohja e 2/3 e 193 vendeve te OKB-se qe te behet anëtar me te drejta te plota ne këtë organizate. Asambleja e Përgjithshme e OKB-se do te mbaje me 25 shtator debatin e përgjithshëm ku do te mbajnë fjalime me radhe presidente dhe kryeministra shtetesh. Fjalën hapëse do ta ketë siç është bere tradite Brazili dhe me pas do te pasohet nga presidenti i ShBA-ve Barack Obama dhe presidenti serb Nikolic.

"I stand at the head of this prestigious institution and pledge that will meet the common issue of liability of the United Nations.
