After 12 days of violent clashes between Palestinian youth and Israeli security forces and reprisal attacks between Palestinian and Israeli civilians, the different Palestinian factions as well as social organizations and social media called on the population to take to the streets on Tuesday in both the occupied territories and the Gaza Strip. Even though Israeli and Palestinian presidents appealed for calm, the violence is escalating and residents of the Gaza Strip are bracing for a possible major Israeli attack.
