Learn how to make Dry Fruit Karanji, a special sweet made on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturti, a recipe by Ruchi Bharani.

Ganesh chaturthi is one of the most important festival in Maharashtra and is celebrated with a lot of devotion and celebration.So this year on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturti lets prepare a very rich and delicious Dry Fruit Karanji. Its easy to cook and tastes very yummy. Chef Ruchi Bharani will teach you how to prepare Dry Fruit Karanji in simple and quick steps.

Ingredients:

For Dough
1 Cup Plain Flour
1 Tbsp Ghee
Pinch Of Salt
Water As Required

For Filling
1 Tsp Ghee
2 Dates, Finely Chopped
1/4 Cup Grated Coconut
1/4 Cup Almonds Finely Chopped
1/4 Cup Cashewnuts Finely Chopped
3 Tbsp Melted Chocolate
1 Tbsp Poppy Seeds

Method

How to make the Dough
-Take plain flour add 2 tablespoon of Semolina, add a little bit of Ghee & pinch of Salt
-Mix all these ingredients together add some water and make a dough
-Apply little bit of water (to avoid the dough from getting dried) and keep it aside for 10 minutes

How to make the Filling

-Roast the dry grated coconut until it start to change the color and take it in the bowl
-Roast the finely chopped almonds for few minutes
-Roast sesame seeds for 10 seconds
-Add few drops of ghee and add some dates and roast them for
10 - 15 seconds
-Add some finely chopped Cashew and melted chocolate to the mixture (Microwave chocolate for 15 seconds )
-Mixed all the ingredients properly

How to make Karanji

-Make small balls out of the Dough
-Apply Ghee on to the board and rolling pin
-Roll the dough balls not to thin not too thick, cut off the excess dough and make it in circular shape
-Take little bit of the fillings place it into Centre
-Fold it into half and seal it
-Seal the edges properly and pinch the end and fold it till it reaches the end
-Dip the karanji's into hot oil
-Fry them on medium heat
