Trump kept COVID-19 diagnosis secret while awaiting second test result: WSJ

"트럼프, 신속검사서 1차 양성 판정 받고도 숨겼다"

The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources, is reporting that President Trump already knew that he had COVID-19 last week when he said he was waiting for his result.
But other White House officials say he was following protocol by taking the rapid test first... and then waiting for the more detailed test.
Trump is also under fire from some health experts for going for a drive to greet his supporters.
Kim Dami has the details.
According to the Wall Street Journal, citing sources it says are familiar with the matter, President Trump kept his first positive result a secret while he waited for the second test.
It reported Sunday that Trump knew about the first result on Thursday when he was speaking to Fox News.
But instead of revealing those results, Trump shared only that his aide had tested positive and that he himself was waiting on the results of a second test he'd taken that night.
It was hours later when he tweeted that he too was positive.
But unnamed White House officials tell the Wall Street Journal that Trump was following White House protocol by first taking a rapid test... and then getting the more reliable test that takes a sample from deeper in the nasal passage.
The White House has not commented on the claims.
But Trump spoke to the American people in a video posted Sunday in which he seemed humbled by the COVID-19 experience.
"So it's been a very interesting journey. I learned a lot about COVID. I learned it by really going to school. This is the real school. This isn't the let's read the book school, and I get it and I understand it."
Meanwhile, in their latest update for the media, Trump's team of doctors said he had not had a fever since Friday, and that his liver and kidney functions had remained normal.
"If he continues to look and feel as well as he does today, our hope is that we can plan for discharge as early as tomorrow to the White House, where he can continue his treatment course."
The doctors also said they had started administering dexamethasone, a type of steroid, which would usually indicate a serious illness.
Sunday evening, Trump took a surprise ride in a car to wave to his supporters, a decision he's been criticized for by some medical experts... who say Trump put his security team at risk of infection... to gain political points ahead of next month's election.
