John Kerry makes unannounced trip to Iraq

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry made an unannounced trip to Iraq, arriving in Baghdad on the heels of meetings in Jerusalem.

The U.S.'s top diplomat is expected to urge Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to take a more aggressive role in Iranian flights in their airspace.

Washington believes weapons coming from Iran are fueling Syria's now two year-conflict.

According to U.S. officials, Iraq has inspected only two flights since July of last year.

Washington is paying close attention to the impact that Syria's conflict, which pits Sunni rebels against the government, is having on the region. New reports suggest Sunni insurgents with ties to Al Qaeda are regaining ground in Iraq and behind recent attacks on Shi'ite targets.
