STORY: Six more victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting were honored at funerals and remembrances on Wednesday, including first-grader Daniel Barden and 27-year old Victoria Soto, a teacher at the school.

In Stratford, Connecticut the sound of bagpipes could be heard as grieving friends and family members packed the Lordship Community Church to bid farewell farewell to Soto who was killed as she tried to protect her first-grade students during the gunman's rampage that killed 26 people at the school.

Well wishers and mourners lined up outside the St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown to remember seven-year old Barden, one of the 20 first-graders who died in the attack.

The massacre of so many children, most of them just 6 or 7 years old, has shocked the United States and the world, renewing debate over gun control in a nation where the right to bear arms is protected by the Constitution and fiercely defended by many.

Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old shooter, carried hundreds of rounds of ammunition in extra clips and shot his victims repeatedly, one of them 11 times. He also shot and killed his mother before driving to the school, and then killed himself.
