Hundreds braved the rain in Taiwan Friday, eager to get their hands on the first official Jeremy Lin NBA t-shirts in Asia.
Lin is the son of Taiwanese immigrants, who's captured the imagination of basketball fans across Asia, after a string of victories for the New York Knicks.
The 250 T-shirts were sold out in half an hour, snapped up by fans like high school student, Sun
(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) 18-YEAR-OLD HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENT SURNAMED SUN SAYING:
"I saw the news online a few days ago and then decided to queue for it. Afraid of not being able to get it, I came here as early as 7 o'clock in the morning. However, probably because of the rain, there are not too many people. I'm the first one here. "
One boss even sent his staff to buy the shirt.
(SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) LOGISTICS COMPANY EMPLOYEE MR. LIU SAYING:
"My boss sent me here today and paid me by the hour. One hundred (Taiwan New Dollars) per hour, two and a half hours totals 250. I was supposed to go to work today but my boss gave me a day off and asked me to queue to get it. My boss holds high hopes for Jeremy Lin and expects him to develop his basketball skills in the U.S. This is to encourage him."
Shirtmaker Adidas is bringing in another 10,000 or so Lin T-shirts to meet strong demand, with the official T-shirt scheduled to make its Shanghai debut this weekend.
