Brad Pitt and The Artist celebrated by NY critics

Brad Pitt was the top honouree at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
He won Best Actor for his two lead performances in last year's "Tree of Life" and "Moneyball".
He shared his award with the films' directors Terrence Malick and Bennett Miller.

"It's a really nice feeling when all the work has accumulated to this. I'm happy for the people, for Terry (director of "Tree of Life" Terrence Malick), for Bennett Miller, for our writers, it's just a nice feeling when everyone scores this way."
Angelina Jolie says she couldn't be any more happy for her long-time partner.

"I'm just proud of him. I'm proud of the films he does, the film speaks for itself and whether it gets awarded or not is not the point ever. It's always, I'm proud when I see a finished product and I know how hard he works."
"The Artist" also won big - taking home Best Picture and Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius.

"What makes this story very special is that the movie's special as you said. So that means that it was very difficult to finance and to find the good person to follow me in that adventure. Meryl Streep won Best Actress for her performance as the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady".
Best supporting awards were given to Albert Brooks for the independent film "Drive" and Jessica Chastain who appeared in "The Help", "Take Shelter" and "Tree of Life".
Focus was also on Pitt's cane.
The actor was hobbling after he tore his ACL picking up daughter Vivienne.
But Pitt blamed age for the spill.
