Deadly floods hit Dublin

A state of emergency in Dublin, after torrential rains triggered severe flooding in the Irish capital, leaving at least two people dead.
The weather service said more than one month's worth of rain had fallen over a 24 hour period.
Rail services have been suspended, roads have been closed, and many shops and homes are submerged.

"I've never seen anything like this in the last day in 38 years. I'm living in Tallaght 43 years and I've never seen anything as bad as this."
(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED MAN, SAYING:
"It's really bad, yeah. The cellar is completely destroyed and the bottom floor I suppose is ruined. Luckily the kitchen is on the second floor so it's not so bad."
Dublin City Council has activated its major emergency plan and has sent teams out to evacuate badly hit houses and to help clear flood waters.
A number of ferries to and from Dublin have also been cancelled, and incoming flights have been diverted to other airports.
