Self-Defense Workout: Sensor Elbow into Offensive Elbow - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats.

We are going to take a look at a sensor elbow into an offensive elbow, and we call it a sensor elbow because it's not really something you are prepared for, you are not ready for the altercation. It just happens and you don't really have time for offense or for the defense you would normally use. So you are just going to pop your arm up into the defense very very quickly.

So, I am facing Nicole right now. She is in a neutral stance, she is not prepared for a fight. And all of a sudden I come out to strike her. As I come to strike she is going to bring that front elbow up so that my strike ends up hitting her elbow rather than her face. Now, I am either going to hit directly to her elbow, which means my hand is going to hurt, or it is going to slide on one side or slide to the other side. Either way it is not going to effect her the way I want it to effect her.

Once she is defensive there and she stops my shot, she is going to come with an elbow of her own and strike me across the face or across the forehead with her own elbow. So again, she is standing neutral. I come at her with a punch. Not expecting it. All of a sudden, she comes up with defense, elbow comes up and she steps in an strikes me to the offensive.

Now if she faces the camera you will see she is in a neutral stance. Her left arm comes up and she is going to cover her left eye with her bicep, pointing her elbow towards her assailant. From there she comes in with her right arm, gives an elbow strike; protecting her head with this hand, and striking with her right elbow.

It is an excellent technique for defense and offense. Also if you are doing it on your own, excellent for working your arms, your shoulders. Stepping in, really using your torso for that other elbow. Very effective maneuver sensor elbow into an offensive elbow.
