00:00real facts here um he has anger man anger issues um and has also had substance abuse issues is he
00:10getting professional help for both of those right now and has he been so the answer is is yes uh he
00:17has he has therapists uh that we have basically um lined up for him from the outside um the mdc
00:24is very strong in certain areas one of the areas it's not so strong in it does not have meaningful
00:30programming um and so he that is not really available to him on the inside as though if he
00:38were at a traditional post-conviction facility there'd be more programming for him so we have
00:44put things together he's working very hard in therapy we know who his therapists are we don't
00:50seek to break the privilege that they have but i know that he's working hard on all these issues
00:55um as as you might remember he we got him into a batterer's program even before he was arrested
01:01on the federal case and and frankly i wish he had done that 30 years ago when it comes time for
01:07sentencing would you argue to the judge that the best way to get real professional help
01:16um is on the outside not the inside and therefore house arrest or just house confinement might be
01:25more appropriate than prison that is certainly an argument that i may make um i mean i think i'm
01:30certainly going to be asking the judge um as a condition of his supervised release um that that he have
01:38appropriate uh counseling and therapy uh i think he needs it i think he thinks he needs it and that's
01:45the important part whether what i think is really irrelevant he he believes that he needs this he
01:50believes that this would make him a better person and and the one thing that he says more than
01:54anything else and he said this consistently for the last 10 and a half months is i am going to make
02:00the most of my time in jail um this happened for a reason i have i have deficits i've had them my
02:07entire adult life and and they came back you know to bite me but i'm not going to i'm not just going
02:15to suffer through this time or blame anyone else for this time i'm going to take account of my own
02:22actions i'm going to try to do better i'm going to have the last chapters of my life be the best
02:27chapters of my life in all the ways that really matter you know to be a loving person uh to be as close
02:34as possible with my children to to to really rely on my faith and i think he's going to do all of
02:40those things so house confinement is something you would see possibly i mean i i have to see how our
02:46sentencing memo comes together we we have a very busy august and early september lined up for us
02:53uh putting together what i think will be a very very important document in the form of this sentencing
