Diddy wants a Black woman in his corner when his federal trial begins -- in less than 3 weeks -- and that's why he's searching for a new attorney to add to his defense team.

00:00We are weeks away from the Diddy trial in New York, the criminal case where he could end up

00:08facing life in prison if convicted, and they still do not have a legal team locked.

00:14They are actually trying to add to that legal team now. We're at less than three weeks. I mean,

00:19this is as almost as 11th hour as you can get to be adding on a case like this that is so many

00:26layers. And that takes months to prepare. But Diddy is looking for a specific kind of lawyer. And

00:32I think it kind of makes sense. He wants a black female lawyer to be standing with him as part of

00:41his team when this trial begins. So look, part of this is obvious, isn't it? Why he wants a black

00:48female lawyer. I mean, given the backdrop, the charges, we've seen it before. We've seen this

00:54in other cases. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But this is not window dressing.

01:00They are specifically, we're told, and we have really good sources, we are told that they are

01:06looking for a black female lawyer with serious legal chops. Right. This is not someone who's

01:12just going to be standing in court or sitting with the team for photos when they, or actually

01:17there won't be photos, it's federal court. But they want someone who's had experience and has chops

01:23for a case like this in federal court. Now, without saying who, we know that certain lawyers have

01:30already been passed over because of that. So they're being very particular about it. But look,

01:39race is going to play a part in this case. We did a documentary. We've done actually four

01:45documentaries now on Diddy. And in one, his lawyer, Mark Agnifolo, made it very clear that race is

01:56going to be front and center. Let's switch our focus to the government. In my opinion, I'm just

02:00going to say it the way it is. No, no friend historically of the successful black man. Okay?

02:07None. And they start making this case, in my opinion, as a takedown of a successful black man.

02:15Here's a man who has made some of the most important businesses owned by a black man,

02:22run, own, created, founded. The vision was that of a black man. What have we done? We have reduced

02:30him, not everyone, but a large amount of our society to being a monster. That should make us

02:37shake in our boots. So, um, Mark Agnifolo, obviously white. Yes. Um, the co-counsel is Tenny

02:45Garrigas, um, white. And Mark Garrigas, her dad, um, who we are told is going to play a significant

02:54part in this case, white. Well, and let's remember, you're going to have at least, uh,

02:59one witness and probably a parade of witnesses of black females who are going to claim they were

03:03victimized by Diddy. And so in order to give sort of a human face to that, maybe suggest that that's

03:08not the case, that they, it makes a lot of sense. I mean, you're, the jury is finding cues in every

03:14piece of evidence, but also who's representing him. And if they don't have, if they just have a

03:18bunch of white folks sort of defending him, all those black female alleged victims are look like,

03:23maybe they're going to look like they're being targeted by his high-priced legal team.

03:27How stunning, how stunning though is it, Jason, three weeks out and they don't have it?

03:32Like, it makes sense. The part that doesn't make sense is three weeks out.

03:36Yeah, I, I guess, I guess it is sort of strange. I mean, I, I mean this, it should have been an

03:42issue. One would have thought it was initiated by, by Ignifolo, right? Is the, and Garrigas,

03:46the head of the trial team. Um, I don't know. It's, uh, it's, it's an odd thing. I would have

03:51expected it by now for sure. Yeah. I mean, they've known that the trial date has been set for

03:56several months. So this seems like a search that should have been happening in January or December.

04:03Well, I mean, look, to get up to speed on a case like this generally takes months. I mean,

04:10months and months and months. This, you know, it, it, I can tell you like Joe Tecapina when he did

04:15ASAP Rocky, he worked on that case almost full time for eight months before the trial. So,

04:20and this is at least as complicated, it's way more complicated than ASAP Rocky. Yes. But we will

04:27see. I mean, they are on the hunt. So, uh, we want to play you something here now. This is

04:32shifting gears a little bit, but it is, uh, Diddy's, one of Diddy's closest confidants, uh, his,

04:37his friend Stevie J, who clearly is not only confident about what the outcome of this trial will be,

04:45but has some very specific ideas of what Diddy should do, uh, when the trial is over.

04:52And Stevie J clearly feels that Diddy's going to beat this, that he will be acquitted. Uh,

04:57here's what he told us when we ran into him yesterday here in LA.

04:59Of course, you know, the trial's coming up with Diddy. Free the guy. Free the guy. I know you said

05:06you think he's going to be clear to all charges. You know, what do you, how do you think it's going to

05:10play out? I mean, it's just a lot of to it. You know, um, you notice those 200 cases from that

05:16lawyer from, what's this guy, Busby or whatever? He can't even practice in New York. Well, you think

05:22about the industry going kind of silent about it, you know, all of his friends and... If I was him,

05:27when I get out, I would none of them dudes. You know what I'm saying? I would just keep a family

05:31and close loved ones. I would actually have a Diddy party and invite everybody to the Diddy party and

05:36get on the mic if I was him and be like, yo, I never want to see him ever. You think he can start the

05:41parties back up after this? You think it'll be the same? They're going to always go to a Diddy party.

05:49Beg to differ. Yeah. Beg to differ. Uh, but I'm surprised at that because he was in one of

05:57our documentaries and he was way more cautious about it than they are. I don't know what's

06:01happened in the last few months, why he feels more confident now. Um, but yeah, I don't know.

06:08First of all, there's a long way to go before we get to Diddy's acquitted. If that were to happen,

06:13I can't imagine Diddy parties are what they used to be. Sorry, Stevie. Sorry, Stevie.

06:46There is a legal team in place. Mark Agnifolo, who's a very accomplished lawyer,

06:50as is Denny Garregas. Yeah. Um, they're, from all accounts, are going to be lead.

06:56Well, they're the ones who are most up to date on the case. They've had months to work on it.
