00:00Calvin Harris just dropped big news on Instagram and now social media is sounding the alarm with
00:04a viral trigger warning. On Tuesday, the 41-year-old DJ took to Instagram to officially
00:10share that he is now a dad. According to The Post, the producer and his wife, Vic Hope,
00:15welcomed their son Micah on July 20th. At first, the home birth photos might leave you wondering
00:20why a post on X, captioned, do not check Calvin Harris's Instagram, has over 29 million views.
00:26That is, until you swipe to the fourth image, a snapshot of the unclean placenta with the
00:31umbilical cord shaped into a heart. And while many fans are flooding the comments with congratulations,
00:37others are full of regret saying they quote, should have listened to that tweet. And for those of you
00:41with a weak stomach, you may want to stop after the first three photos as the rest of the carousel
00:46continues to take you on a placenta dehydration journey. So what's with those placenta pills in
00:52Calvin's post is part of a trend called placentophagy, basically eating the placenta
00:56after giving birth. Sounds wild, but some celebrities swear by it. We're talking Kim Kardashian,
01:02Chrissy Teigen, and even Mandy Moore. Some even claim it boosts energy, helps with milk supply,
01:08and fights postpartum depression. But before you jump into the trend, many experts warn there's
01:13zero scientific proof that eating placenta does anything at all. Some doctors even say it's not safe,
01:19not recommended, and the risk outweighs the hype. According to the Cleveland Clinic,
01:24the placenta is basically a filter organ that traps toxins and bacteria to protect the baby
01:29during pregnancy. So the theory is when you eat it later, you're putting all that stuff back into
01:33your body. And the biggest danger is infection for mom and baby, especially if they're breastfeeding,
01:39as the CDC reportedly linked a case of newborn infection to placenta pills in 2016.
01:44But despite doctors warning against placenta consumption, the trend lives on. And plenty
01:50of fans are celebrating Harris's choice of showing that. Singer Becky Hill even commented,
01:55Love to see the placenta. Good job not wasting it either. That's some goddess magic right there.
02:00And while the internet stays divided over Calvin's photo choices,
02:04Harris himself seems focused on what really matters, his wife and new baby.
02:08But what do you think? Beautifully raw or way too much for Instagram?
