00:00Always fun to catch up and talk some baseball here.
00:02And Justin, thanks for coming on the show.
00:04I know it's going to be a busy week.
00:05And of course, we'll start off with the busy week for the New York Yankees.
00:09I mean, I feel like, you know, we should be talking about the Marlins here.
00:12I mean, that to me is really the story, but everybody wants to talk about the Yankees here.
00:16So look, I mean, I was at the game, so I certainly, you know, could kind of speak more to this,
00:22I believe, than maybe most people, Justin.
00:24And is that you never know, like if the Yankees pull off that first win in Miami,
00:28you know, with the crazy game that they had there, maybe the next two games go differently.
00:32But it just seemed to me in watching those games that after that, they were so defeat-adjusted,
00:38like they didn't score a run on Saturday.
00:40And it felt like once that was at the home run on Sunday, they were done too.
00:44Maybe the best thing possible for New York is getting out of there,
00:46because they just looked awful this weekend.
00:49I think it was a pretty tough mental spot.
00:52You know, you make all those moves, you try to fortify the back end of your bullpen,
00:56and everyone sort of, everyone you brought in in that first game absolutely fumbles one part or another,
01:03whether it's the Caballero error, you know, in Florida still for him not really having to go too far,
01:09still can't get settled, or every single pitching condition, Bird, Bednar,
01:13all imploding and giving away what felt like it could have been that win.
01:18And yeah, I think they got to go reset.
01:20Baseball, you know, when you get into those clubhouses, is very series to series.
01:24So hopefully a new page, a fresh start, Max Freed pitching today, start the week off.
01:29Just forget those first couple of days happened.
01:32The Yankees have been one of the more unlucky teams this year in baseball by a lot of the estimations
01:37of, you know, lucky or unlucky hits.
01:39So a lot of that research that goes into how pitchers are actually pitching
01:43and how hitters are doing against it can show us the Yankees are still,
01:47and the metrics, you know, the on-the-paper metrics show this too.
01:49They're still one of the most potent offenses with some of the most dangerous pitching weapons
01:54in baseball, and that's why the odds still show them as the favorite to make the playoffs,
01:58even if they cede current position to the Red Sox, which is crazy to say the least.
02:04It's awesome.
02:05I love it for baseball, even if I am, at heart, a Yankees fan.
