00:01Previously on Blind Frog Ranch.
00:03Look at that.
00:04Look at that.
00:05That means there's something of value here.
00:07Something we're dying over.
00:09The team discovered an ancient Aztec armory
00:12and a deadly battle to protect the gold.
00:15Between killing them, collapsing mine,
00:17hiding caches,
00:18it's very likely a sign of a hasty retreat.
00:21That gold is still here,
00:22and we gotta find it.
00:24That revealed a direct passage
00:26to the keyhole chamber.
00:28The fact that people may have died
00:30to protect this area,
00:31there has to be a tunnel
00:33that connects the armory
00:34to the Aztec keyhole chamber.
00:38So Josh engineers an ambitious new pilot
00:40to enter the armory
00:42by draining the water from the pond.
00:44What the ?
00:45Shut it, shut it, shut it!
00:53If we get a big enough pump in here,
00:55we can create an air pocket down in that cavern
00:57that we can actually work in.
01:00But the perilous construction...
01:02You're right on the edge over here, buddy.
01:04...pushes the team to the brink.
01:06Dwayne, there's a lot more earth coming down.
01:08Dwayne, stop!
01:13Legends of ancient treasures...
01:15This has to be hundreds of years back.
01:17...and unexplained phenomenon...
01:19What the hell is that?
01:20Meet at a 160-acre property in Northeast Utah,
01:24known as Blind Frog Ranch,
01:27where Dwayne Olinger and his team
01:29are digging in search of long-lost Aztec gold.
01:32The Aztecs have discovered this?
01:34But the closer they get...
01:36Finally get the whole gold in my hand.
01:38...the more the land fights back.
01:40Come on, you guys!
01:41Go!
01:42Go!
01:43Now Dwayne will move heaven...
01:44There you go!
01:45...and earth...
01:46Fire in the hole!
01:47...until he gets to the bottom of this mystery...
01:50We've started this whole deal,
01:52and we're sure as hell gonna face it.
01:54...and solves what's lurking below...
01:56Holy ****!
01:57There's something in there!
01:58****!
02:00...at Blind Frog Ranch.
02:10Dwayne, hey!
02:11You made it to the end,
02:12but be real careful and slow,
02:13especially when you're turning it.
02:15The soil is just very soft.
02:17Yeah, copy that.
02:19Dwayne and Charlie are constructing a catchment basin,
02:22a reservoir they hope can hold enough water
02:25to allow Chad to access the flooded tunnel system
02:28and make his way to the Armory Cavern.
02:31We're hoping the water level throughout the cavern lowers,
02:35so we can have an air pocket throughout the whole cave.
02:39They've already moved over close to 100,000 cubic feet of dirt,
02:44enough to remove over 800,000 gallons from the pond.
02:48And are now in the process of constructing a makeshift dam
02:53to contain the water.
02:55You're about a foot from the front right.
02:59Using the weight of the excavator,
03:01they will compact the dirt,
03:03hoping it is strong enough to prevent the water
03:05from breaching the dam.
03:07I got soil movement over here.
03:09I got some collapse on this side.
03:11But Dwayne's walking a tightrope
03:13with a three-ton piece of machinery.
03:16Look how close he is up there.
03:18That's not good.
03:19Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Dwayne!
03:21There's a lot more earth coming down!
03:23Dwayne, stop!
03:27Everybody back, back up, back!
03:29You're on the side.
03:31You're on the side on the pond.
03:32You're over the edge.
03:34It looks like you're going to have to back up first slowly.
03:41All right, yeah, you're on.
03:42OK, right there, you're safer.
03:44You're past the stake, too, in the front left,
03:47so be real careful going forward.
03:49Easy does it, buddy, easy does it.
03:55I can see a whole bunch of fresh soil there.
03:59Copy that.
04:02We're good to back them over there now.
04:07A little bit more.
04:08You're good, you're good.
04:11There was one point where a lot of dirt came down,
04:15and it looked like either the excavator was coming down
04:19or the entire dam was coming down.
04:21But Dwayne knows what he's doing in an excavator.
04:42Perfect.
04:45Oh, here he comes right here.
05:00Yeah, yeah, boy!
05:01Yeah!
05:02Ha-ha-ha-ha!
05:03Woo!
05:05Hell yeah!
05:06Yeah!
05:08That's a huge pump.
05:10This is a heavy-duty water pump.
05:12I mean, you can suck a pig through this thing.
05:14This is the type of machine that we use to drain mines
05:17when we're gold mining.
05:19All mines are just damp because they were underwater,
05:21and they have to be engineered in a way
05:23to drain that water out.
05:26So that's what we have to do here.
05:28Hell yeah!
05:29That's a rig right there, man.
05:30How you doing, man?
05:31Good, dude.
05:32Good to see you.
05:33Hell yeah!
05:34Equipment manager Reeves Washburn
05:35arrives with the pump and hoses
05:37to drain the water from the pond and move it into the holding basin.
05:42Reeves, what you got?
05:44Well, you got 40 feet of suction hose here,
05:47100 foot of your lay flat.
05:49This is your pond liner.
05:50Yeah.
05:51That's 20 by 25 and two sheets of it.
05:54This is the 6-inch Pioneer's trash pump.
05:57Nice!
05:58So...
05:59That'll pump some water, huh?
06:00Yeah.
06:03Josh's innovative plan is to use an industrial mining pump
06:07to drain the water from the pond into the catchment basin.
06:11Weighing just under a ton, the pump must first be placed
06:14as close to the pond as possible before the hoses can be connected.
06:20Once in place, they are hoping to lower the water level
06:23in the tunnel by over a foot,
06:25giving Chad enough space to safely reach the armory cavern.
06:32So how do you want to get this set up?
06:34We'll just get that track hole,
06:35and I'll start unloading this vacuum pump.
06:38That track hole will do all the work if you hook me up.
06:41I got a strap for you.
06:43That's perfect. That's even better.
06:44All right.
06:45Chad, if you'd spot for me on that deal,
06:47we've worked together forever.
06:48Yeah.
06:49If I honk that point in the sun...
06:52Don't .
06:54Don't go on, man.
06:55Enough talking about it.
06:56Let's get it started, boys.
06:57All right.
06:58Let's do it.
07:01Is it a crazy plant?
07:02You're damn right it is, but it's a bold plant.
07:05That's the kind of thing that we need to get us this cold.
07:09So we'll get the bucket over here,
07:10and we'll get the strap off the teeth side of the bucket,
07:13and we'll cleft it on right here.
07:15But I do live with this kind of stuff.
07:17Basically, if I get to use some heavy, dirty toys.
07:24Yeah, never get in between the bucket and the trailer, right?
07:27It'll get you killed.
07:31Dwayne will use the hydraulic excavator arm
07:34to put the pump into place.
07:36We'll get that side first.
07:42Yeah, good.
07:46It looks good.
07:47We're ready.
07:48This can swing when he picks it up,
07:50so everybody get back.
07:53Come on, baby.
07:55Yeah.
07:57Hell yeah.
08:06Can I just pull up a little bit?
08:09Ah.
08:21Got it.
08:22Hell yeah.
08:26Looking good.
08:27Just go left with one.
08:30As far back as we can,
08:31because it's deeper right there.
08:34I'm going to stay right where you are, Jeff.
08:35There you are, Jad.
08:36Yeah, right here's perfect.
08:39Good.
08:41I'm gonna gun man more.
08:43Forward.
08:48I like it. Let's go down.
08:51Jad!
08:55Don't start with that horn.
08:59Dwayne is literally attached to that excavator,
09:02and he's always watching.
09:04Turn it that way. Turn it.
09:07Okay.
09:08No, other way.
09:09Other way, other way.
09:11There you go. There you go.
09:12Coming down.
09:13Coming down.
09:15It takes a lot of skill, and Dwayne has it.
09:17You wanna go get the hoses?
09:18Yeah, we'll get the hoses.
09:21Get it!
09:22Get it, Reeves!
09:23Get it!
09:25Woo!
09:29I mean, this is super exciting.
09:31I mean, this is the first time we've used a big pump.
09:33This is a six-inch pump that pumps 2,000 gallons a minute.
09:39While the team has not been able to measure the exact flow rate
09:42of the water underground, a 2,000-gallon pipe is capable of pumping
09:47an entire 20-by-10-foot swimming pool in just four and a half minutes.
09:53Jad, I'll take them down the hole, and you guys hook them up.
09:56All right.
09:57All right.
10:00Jad, watch out.
10:01This is going to swing out.
10:04We can clip the hose right here.
10:08Coming down.
10:15So...
10:16Do we have a screen for this?
10:17I don't think so.
10:18There's some s*** in there.
10:19Charlie!
10:20Hey!
10:21Hey!
10:22Hey!
10:23Hey!
10:24Hey!
10:25Hey!
10:26Watch out!
10:27Damn!
10:28Boy!
10:29Goddamn!
10:30He almost died.
10:31Sorry about that.
10:34There are two pipes that attach to the pump.
10:37One of the pipes will pull from the pond.
10:40There.
10:41Can you get it, Charlie?
10:42Right there.
10:43Hell yeah.
10:44Just as easy as that.
10:45Yeah.
10:47While the other pipe, a lay flat, will transfer the water
10:50through the pump and over the dam.
10:54Well, one of us is going to have to get in the bucket then.
10:56Okay.
10:57And then Duane can take us out, the hose underneath us.
10:59Yep.
11:00And then we can just cut it loose and drop it.
11:02I like it.
11:03All right.
11:04I'm ready.
11:05Cool.
11:06This thing's heavy.
11:07So we're going to pick it up with the excavator
11:09and send it out to the deepest part of the pond.
11:12Even though we have this big equipment,
11:14we still need humans out there to, you know,
11:16cut it and place it.
11:17All right.
11:18I'm ready.
11:29Looking all right.
11:30Everything's good.
11:31You're clear.
11:32You're clear.
11:33We need to watch.
11:35He doesn't put too much pressure on that connection
11:37right on the pump itself.
11:38True.
11:39Nice and slow.
11:41Looking good.
11:42You better not fill this thing up with water, man.
11:45Here we go.
11:46We're filling.
11:47Woo!
11:48How'd you do it?
11:51Now we don't want to suck that strap up, Chad.
12:02All right.
12:03It'll get around the impeller.
12:04Uh-oh.
12:05It'll be a nightmare.
12:06That works.
12:07Here we go.
12:08Nicely done, brother.
12:09Thank you, bro.
12:10We're set, man.
12:11And it's at the perfect spot, really.
12:12Pretty deep in there.
12:13All right.
12:14We've got to get the weight flat, Charlie.
12:15Yeah, here's the male right here.
12:16That even goes down to the pump.
12:17All right.
12:18So we've got the male on the pump.
12:19Female going out.
12:20Yeah, the hooks go that way.
12:21No.
12:22There they are.
12:23All right.
12:24Cool.
12:25That way you've got to add more.
12:26Yeah, all right.
12:27Yeah, makes sense.
12:28You can keep going.
12:29Perfect.
12:30Yeah.
12:31All right.
12:32Yeah, makes sense.
12:33Perfect.
12:34Yeah.
12:35All right.
12:36All right.
12:37All right.
12:38All right.
12:39Cool.
12:40That way you've got to add more.
12:41Yeah.
12:42All right.
12:43Yeah.
12:44Makes sense.
12:45Perfect.
12:46Hey, uh, come here.
12:53Ow.
12:54My arm's up.
12:55I got pain in myself.
12:57Tell me what we can do for you.
12:59How do we reach out?
13:00I want to get out of here and film it.
13:01Okay.
13:02I think we may be having a heart attack.
13:05Ah.
13:06That's coming down.
13:07Emily, hang on to that.
13:08Shit!
13:10Get out of here.
13:11Yes, sir.
13:12Oh, hell.
13:13Yo, what's going on?
13:15My arm's up.
13:16Let's get you out of this shit.
13:18Ah.
13:19What's up?
13:20Easy.
13:21All right.
13:22All right.
13:23Okay?
13:24All right.
13:25Hey, Dad, let's get in the car.
13:26Ah.
13:27I was busy just doing the work, and next thing I know, Chad's putting his dad in the truck,
13:38and they're driving on out of here.
13:40Let's get you checked out.
13:42Ah.
13:43You know, in four years, I've never seen my dad walk off a job.
13:48Not once.
13:49And that just shows the weight of this situation.
13:52There's something really f***ing wrong.
13:56Fellas.
13:57Hey, Chad.
13:58Hey, hey.
13:59You know, obviously we've noticed there's something off, you know?
14:03He's never peeled off a job like that.
14:04So we got him to the ER.
14:05They're gonna run some tests and see what's wrong with him.
14:06I've worked with my dad my whole life, and I've never seen him look like that.
14:08It was almost like a look of helpless.
14:09And that's how I knew something serious was happening.
14:12But we're all gonna get to know.
14:13Hey, Chad.
14:14Hey, hey.
14:15You know, obviously we've noticed there's something off, you know?
14:18He's never peeled off a job like that.
14:22So we got him to the ER.
14:25They're gonna run some tests and see what's wrong with him.
14:27I've worked with my dad my whole life, and I've never seen him look like that.
14:32It was almost like a look of helpless.
14:35And that's how I knew something serious was happening.
14:38Dwayne has been taken to a hospital in Vernal
14:40where doctors are assessing his condition.
14:44I think run some tests, see what's going on with him,
14:47and then just get some rest, recovery.
14:51But in the meantime, let's keep working
14:53towards getting all the water out of the pond.
14:55Okay, yeah.
14:55I mean, that's what he'd want us to do, so...
14:57For sure.
14:58Keep taking care of business.
15:00Yep.
15:00All right, well, let's get to work.
15:02Yeah, let's do it.
15:07So we're going to try to pump it out.
15:10We'll measure how far it goes down,
15:11and we'll have a calculation to know
15:14if we can outrun it with that pump.
15:15We can use flags to keep track of how far it drops.
15:19This will give us the answers we need as far as volume.
15:22Yeah, exactly.
15:23Yeah, perfect.
15:24We're going to mark the water level of the pond at the beginning,
15:28and that'll give us a volume drop so we'll know what we're doing.
15:32With the suction hose placed inside the pond,
15:38the final step is to extend the release hose
15:40into the catchment basin.
15:43I mean, it's super exciting, man.
15:45This pond, it's always been filled with water.
15:48It'll be really interesting to see what we find in the pond.
15:52Years ago, Chad and Dwayne mapped the pond cavern
15:55with a LIDAR scanner,
15:56enabling Chad to navigate the flooded cave.
15:59But turbulent currents made the area too risky to continue.
16:04With the water level lowered,
16:05Josh hopes it will give Chad an air pocket
16:08to traverse the tunnel safely.
16:11All right.
16:12Yeah, we're in place up here.
16:13Perfect.
16:14So we should be able to fire it up and send it.
16:17Great.
16:18Cool. Let's do it.
16:19Because I've project-managed our gold mines in Arizona,
16:22I have experience in draining flooded mine systems.
16:25I'm just here to add whatever I can.
16:27But not being able to see below that small pond opening
16:30makes this a trickier job.
16:35Yeah, sounds good.
16:37Here we go, here we go.
16:38Yeah, it's going.
16:43Yeah.
16:46Wow, look at that.
16:48Oh, yeah.
16:49I estimate there's, like, 30,000 gallons of water
16:53in this pond alone
16:55before we start to lower the water in the cavern system.
16:58But this basin should be able to hold 20 times that.
17:01And we'll go from there.
17:02We'll see what happens.
17:03Hey, the pond is dropping.
17:15Yeah, look at that.
17:17After running the pump for an hour,
17:20the pond has already drained by four feet.
17:23But the 20-foot-high dam is showing signs of cracking.
17:27It's starting to get to be a lot of pressure against this.
17:30The plan is working.
17:31That pump is strong enough to lower the level of the pond.
17:35This basin is huge and can hold a lot more.
17:38But there's a lot of pressure on the dam wall,
17:40and we're starting to see some cracks.
17:43We should kill it?
17:44Yeah, we don't want this water line to get too far up this dam
17:47because then it could breach.
17:48Exactly.
17:56If I get the excavator and start digging over there,
17:58we'll have more space.
18:00That should take a lot of pressure off the wall.
18:02Yeah, if you want to dig the reservoir back that way, okay.
18:05Yeah.
18:05Yeah, I'm a gambler.
18:07All right.
18:07All right.
18:09With the water level rising,
18:12Chad will attempt to lengthen the basin,
18:14hoping to lower the pressure on the dam.
18:17Yeah.
18:20Hell yeah.
18:32That's a big bone right there, boys.
18:35Woo!
18:36All right.
18:40Now we want to extend the length of it
18:43where we can get some more volume in here.
18:45It takes some of the pressure off of the dam here.
18:48So that's not good.
18:49But if he can move it that way a little bit,
18:51that'll take the pressure off of this.
18:59Hey, it's right here.
19:00It's kicking my ass head up pretty good.
19:06It's working, Charlie.
19:08Not as much pressure on this side.
19:15God damn.
19:17Ha, ha, ha, ha.
19:19Yo.
19:21It's a fucking bull.
19:22Hey, I'm still getting used to this s**t.
19:39By deepening the reservoir,
19:41Chad and the team temporarily relieved the water pressure
19:45being exerted on the dam
19:46and now must hope it will hold.
19:50Fire back up?
19:51Fired back up.
19:51Hell yeah.
19:57Back and bend this, boys.
20:05Wow, look at that.
20:07I told you.
20:09So right now, with pumping out all the water at the pond,
20:11we're getting pretty low.
20:13I mean, I think we only have like six or seven foot left,
20:16and we should see the entrance to the cave system.
20:19So this is f**king.
20:21Really cool.
20:22Charlie, keep an eye on that dam.
20:25I got you.
20:25Copy that.
20:33What's the sound?
20:34You hear that?
20:35This pump's struggling.
20:38I think the hose is clogged.
20:40Okay, Charlie.
20:43Hey, we got water.
20:44We got no water over here.
20:47Nothing's coming out.
20:50Let's kill it.
20:51Pull it out.
20:56Charlie, go get a winch.
20:57We'll pull the hose out.
20:58Got it.
20:59Yeah, that thing was struggling.
21:02Well, it's at the bottom,
21:03and she's sucking in all that silt and trash.
21:05The pump keeps getting plugged up.
21:10Yeah, every once in a while,
21:11we have to pull it out and clean it out,
21:14put it back in there.
21:14There's so much silt at the bottom.
21:21I think we have a clog in the end of our pipe.
21:24Oh, we're going to drag it out?
21:25You got it.
21:26Keep coming, Charlie.
21:41All right, pull, Charlie.
21:52All right.
21:54Yeah, what do we got, huh?
21:56Yeah, just muck and mire in there.
21:59Look at all that.
22:01Yuck.
22:01There's something sharp in here.
22:03Is there?
22:03Be careful.
22:04God, that thing will suck up anything.
22:11What the is this?
22:13Is that just a rock, or what is that?
22:15It's not a rock.
22:16Look at this.
22:16Feel that.
22:16What the hell is that thing?
22:32What the hell is that thing?
22:34There you go.
22:39There's more of it.
22:45This is a skull, bro.
22:49Look at that f***ing tooth.
22:55What the hell?
22:56There's a skull in there.
22:57What the f*** is this?
23:10Is that just a rock, or what is that?
23:12It's not a rock.
23:13Look at this.
23:13Feel that.
23:14Oh, there you go.
23:22There's more of it.
23:27This is a skull, bro.
23:28Oh, heck yeah, it is.
23:29Look at that f***ing tooth.
23:35Look at that.
23:36What the hell?
23:37There's a skull in there.
23:39It sucked up a skull.
23:41What the hell's a skull doing 25 feet underwater?
23:44There's no hide left on here.
23:46I mean, this skull's been picked clean.
23:49Something was fading on it.
23:54I want to see what else is down there.
23:56Let's get back to pumping.
23:57Okay.
24:00All right.
24:01Let it rip, Josh.
24:02Here we go.
24:06How's it going?
24:22We're good.
24:25Right now, we just don't know what's going on.
24:28My arms have been bothering me for a long time, a long time.
24:31One's worse than the other.
24:32So I had to come see the doctor and get checked out.
24:37I have never walked out on the job before.
24:41I had to call it quits on that one deal because people don't realize that whenever I had Chad
24:47in the bucket, I lost feeling in my arms.
24:51I had to catch my arm with my leg to stop the dump.
24:58Chad just thought I was playing tricks on him.
25:01I didn't trust myself no more after that.
25:04Let's get the out of here.
25:06Yes, sir.
25:07I'll have a walk.
25:09I'm not going to put somebody else at risk because I can't operate.
25:13So I knew to call it right then.
25:16Dwayne's EKG showed no signs of a heart attack, but with his right arm paralyzed,
25:22doctors are now running neurological tests to try to uncover what's causing the pain.
25:27Dr. H will be here shortly.
25:31All right.
25:32Thank you, Lord.
25:32Thank you, Lord.
25:35You know, as far as the pond goes, I trust that Chad will lead them and drain that pond
25:40without me.
25:41But I can't wait to get back up there.
25:45This project has to move forward.
25:47History waits on nobody.
25:49And where's the, uh, near the hose, do we know?
26:05It's, it's close because we got 20 feet from that coupler.
26:07Yeah.
26:08So we're within a few feet of the end.
26:11Hey, the dam's holding up and the water's now refilling.
26:13This is working, boys.
26:14Look at this.
26:17The big frog down here in the frog pond.
26:20Hell yeah.
26:21That's a good old one right there, boys.
26:23These frogs are coming up from the cavern below.
26:26So I believe we've reached the top of the underground cavern.
26:29Now we have to move the hose so we can get into the deeper water so that we can keep pumping.
26:34But this muddy area here is too unstable for the excavator.
26:37So we're going to have to move this by hand.
26:39Okay, we're about to suck air, Chad.
26:43I'm going to go shut the, shut the pump off.
26:45All right, perfect.
26:45We'll reposition.
26:46Perfect.
26:48So we've got to get down into the pond.
26:50There's like a ledge that drops off where the bottom is.
26:53And just to move that thing is super heavy.
26:58I'll grab the bottom of the hose and I'll drag it to the deepest part of the water.
27:02And then we'll suck out all the water and try to get in that cave.
27:05Hey, Charlie, bring a winch down.
27:07You get stuck in the mud, you're going to need something that you can anchor to.
27:21True, true, yeah, true.
27:23Just have it in place just in case you need it.
27:29Give us some more.
27:32Bring it all the way up.
27:33Give us some more.
27:35A little more?
27:37Cut.
27:42All right, good, good.
27:44Here we go.
27:48Yeah.
27:48We're just sinking in.
27:50What?
27:52God damn it.
27:53It's deep.
27:54Is it?
27:54Yeah.
27:59Okay.
28:00Ready?
28:00As far out as you can get it.
28:01Yep, yep.
28:02Let's go.
28:03Let's go.
28:04Careful, Charlie.
28:13This is a slip and slide you don't want to mess with.
28:20That's as far as it'll go, yeah?
28:21We can go a little more.
28:23Okay.
28:24Got it.
28:25Yeah.
28:29That's it.
28:30That's it.
28:30All right.
28:30You got it.
28:32See how much space we have in the cavern.
28:35Hey, Charlie, can you throw me that mask?
28:37Ready?
28:38Yeah, yeah.
28:38So I think this is actually the spot right here.
28:57Yeah, this is the cave entrance right here.
29:01We're close, boys.
29:02You don't need half a third of you.
29:05Let's get you out of there.
29:06Come on.
29:09I'm pumped.
29:10We are almost there.
29:11We are right there at the doorstep, the portal of this cavern system.
29:15Yeah, let's fire back up, huh?
29:18We're hoping that the water in the cave lowers and creates an air pocket throughout the entirety
29:23of the cave so that we can actually get in there and explore.
29:27Come on, baby.
29:29Pump.
29:29Come on.
29:51Yeah, let's see what we got.
29:53Well, that water yesterday was cold.
29:55Oh, damn.
29:56You look like you were frozen, man.
29:59Oh, that's come up a lot.
30:03What the ?
30:04There's no way.
30:07I mean, we expected it to slowly refill, but...
30:10I mean, that's twice as high as it was when we left last night.
30:16Yeah, to the bottom, that's got to be 10, 12 feet.
30:19Yeah.
30:21Damn it.
30:21This isn't good.
30:23This isn't good.
30:26What we saw yesterday, the pump was more than large enough to move the water out faster
30:31than what the pond could refill.
30:34Even when we shut down, the water level was stable.
30:36And the pond did go down, and that was looking encouraging.
30:41We come back this morning, and that pond has filled up thousands of gallons more already
30:47in just a few hours.
30:51Yesterday, it was just, yeah, below my waist, and now it'd be way over my head.
30:55I mean, we stood way ahead of the refill rate all day yesterday.
30:59I mean, just based on how much that's risen, something happened underground.
31:03Right.
31:06Yeah, we'll get to figure something out.
31:09We were so close.
31:10Had it pumped out, and we even got further down than we ever thought we would.
31:14The refill rate stood steady all day, so something had to have happened to refill that fast.
31:20We've got to get eyes on what's going on underground.
31:25We have to find out what caused this.
31:40Yeah, I think if we could get that camera down in that hole, it might show what's going on with the underground water.
31:47Yeah, for sure.
31:48Chad and Josh are on top of the beat site, where the team previously drilled a borehole into the underground cavern.
31:56Whoa!
31:58Revealing a hidden ancient aqueduct connecting the beat site to the pond.
32:03We know this borehole's connected to the underwater cavern system, so Chad and I are going to drop a camera in.
32:08I want to know more of what's going on here.
32:12When did y'all hit the water over there?
32:13Oh, we were pushing 90 foot when the water blew.
32:18Like a minute later, there was a disturbance of the pond.
32:23So we know they're connected if a big change happened there.
32:26I want to see if anything's changed here.
32:29No, we just got to get eyes on it, see what's really going on down there.
32:32Exactly.
32:33Yeah, good.
32:34We're rolling.
32:34I'm going to put the light on.
32:36All right, good.
32:38There she goes.
32:39There she goes.
32:40Yep, okay, we're coming.
32:44About 20 foot down right now.
32:46All right.
32:49Bouncing on the sides there.
32:50I still see the light, though.
32:52Yep.
32:57We're going good.
32:59We're about 80 foot.
33:00We're really close to where we hit that water.
33:01Should be getting the water pretty soon.
33:03Yeah, it's still going.
33:04Still going.
33:07Oh, light's gone.
33:12We're still...
33:13Whoa!
33:14It's freaking...
33:16Chad, something grabbed it.
33:18No, we hit current.
33:19We hit current.
33:20It's going.
33:21It's like I'm fishing right now, Chad.
33:25Look at this thing.
33:27Yeah, I got a marlin on the end of it now.
33:30Look at that.
33:30It seems like by draining the pond,
33:34we triggered an even bigger surge of water.
33:37You know, we've always known that the aqueduct has a strong flow,
33:41but this is a whole other level.
33:42It nearly ripped the camera from my hands.
33:46Let's go back and start the pump again.
33:47We got that water level down once.
33:49Let's see if we can do it again.
33:50Well...
33:51With the pump running for two hours,
34:10the pond's water level has remained the same.
34:13That cavern system just keeps putting more water in this pond,
34:16and by the end of the day, this whole thing will be full, I'm sure.
34:20Well, here's the thing.
34:20It wasn't refilling last night, and then it did.
34:24That means that this aquifer, the levels of it,
34:26are fluctuating on its own.
34:28So you think we've triggered some type of security system?
34:32I don't know.
34:33I don't know.
34:35We've seen signs of Aztec water traps before.
34:38Last year, when drilling detonation holes in the energy zone...
34:42Look at that.
34:44...the drill struck water.
34:46Wow.
34:46...and the entire ranch, including the pond, flooded.
34:50That's a lot of water.
34:52It's possible by draining the pond,
34:54the team could have triggered flooding from a man-made source.
34:58The Aztecs were masters of creating aqueducts and passageways.
35:03It's not out of the realm of possibility.
35:05The Aztecs created some type of water traps to secure the treasure.
35:12It's just frustrating.
35:14I mean, we get close to something,
35:15and, you know, something like this always happens.
35:17We're not giving up.
35:19I mean, I'm going to call my dad, get with the guys,
35:20and see how we can move forward.
35:23All right, we need to get back to the drawing board.
35:25Yeah, we do.
35:26Fightin' water is one of the hardest things
35:29that you can do when you're going underground.
35:31It was a bold plan, but it was working.
35:33It's a bit perplexing,
35:35because in all my years of mining,
35:36I have never seen such a dramatic change
35:39in water levels like this.
35:52What do you think, Charlie?
35:54It still blows my mind when we found that skull.
35:58Yeah, I was just trying to clean it up a little bit.
36:00It's been chewed on.
36:02Yeah.
36:02No doubt about that.
36:04We know there's an ego system below us here.
36:07We've seen signs of predators by the pond before.
36:10Last year, Charlie spotted a mysterious creature near the pond.
36:14This is what I got.
36:15And the team brought in a biomedical expert
36:19to collect and analyze water samples.
36:22It has other DNA that were prehistoric,
36:26so you might have a large biosphere under Blind Rock Ranch
36:30is what I'm getting at.
36:31There could be some kind of creature
36:36down here at the pond
36:38lurking underground and underwater here.
36:41Hey, Jadro.
37:01Hey.
37:02How you doing?
37:02Just trying to get out of here as soon as possible.
37:07Yeah?
37:08How you feeling?
37:10Not so great.
37:11Mar, I'm up.
37:13They, uh, have they said anything yet?
37:15Results or whatever?
37:16Nothing yet.
37:17I might have to stick around a while longer
37:19while I get this all sorted down.
37:21Man, hoping to get released tomorrow.
37:24Okay.
37:25So my dad is still getting some tests run,
37:27and as of now, we still don't know what's going on with him.
37:30No, we're all right.
37:39We're just, uh, we've had a couple setbacks,
37:41but, uh, just working through it.
37:45We drained the pond.
37:47We got about six or seven feet away,
37:49but something triggered a new surge of water.
37:52We tried draining the pond,
37:54but there's no way we can get in that flooded cave system.
37:57I think our top priority right now is that fault line.
38:01It's produced a lot of clues,
38:02so I think if we keep searching along it,
38:05we should find another entrance.
38:08I hope you're right, son.
38:10I got faith in you.
38:12I'm handling things here.
38:14Just, uh, keep getting some rest,
38:15and let me know if you have any updates.
38:18Good luck.
38:19Keep on pushing forward.
38:21I'll tell you when I get through it.
38:22I'll see you.
38:27I get worried about it.
38:30I mean, just like any father-and-son relationship,
38:32ours is, uh, a little complicated.
38:40One thing is we, we,
38:42we don't, we wouldn't say it a lot,
38:44that, like, you're worried about someone
38:45or, or you care for them or whatever,
38:47or, but we do care about each other.
38:50It's just not, it's not verbally said, you know?
38:59Even though we don't talk about our emotions a lot,
39:02my dad knows that I'm worried about him.
39:03Fellas.
39:14Chad, coming.
39:15Hey.
39:16How's Dwayne?
39:18Uh,
39:19we're gonna do tests
39:20and, uh,
39:22go from there, all right?
39:23I know you guys are worried.
39:25I'll, uh, keep you on the way, too,
39:26but I know he wants us to keep our moves forward,
39:29so that's what we have to do.
39:30First thing, I think we should discuss the pond.
39:34Yeah, hey, whatever's going on at that pond isn't normal.
39:36I mean, if that was just groundwater in there,
39:38it would have taken weeks to refill.
39:40The fact that it filled up so fast
39:42shows us that there's something going on underground
39:45that we can't explain,
39:46and dealing with water,
39:47that unpredictable,
39:48is a big problem.
39:50And then we have the risk of collapse.
39:51I mean, that's, that's a f***ing death trap.
39:53I mean, so we can't,
39:54that's off the table.
39:57I can't dive in there,
39:58but I wouldn't quite say this is a setback.
40:01You know, everything we learn
40:02from draining the pond is information.
40:05I say we should start focusing on the fall zone
40:08and Eric's plan he's been working on.
40:11I think that's the best option.
40:13Every clue that we find
40:14is going to help us get us closer
40:15to that keyhole cavern
40:16and find that treasure.
40:18Got it?
40:19Yeah.
40:19Agreed.
40:20Hearing Dwayne's not coming back,
40:22it's a real blow.
40:23It's a blow to the team.
40:24But I think Chad's going to step up.
40:26There's no question.
40:27We should see boots on the ground
40:29spreading out with three clues,
40:30any openings, any holes.
40:32Chad is getting ready to step up
40:34into Dwayne's shoes right now.
40:36I'm ready to follow him.
40:38Mark my words,
40:39but we're going to find another way in.
40:41I like it.
40:47Next time on Blind Frog Ranch...
40:50Holy s***.
40:51Oh my God.
40:52This looks like a literal goldmine to me.
40:54Chad's decision to pivot
40:56towards the caves
40:57at the open pit mine...
40:59And you mapped what?
41:00Already six, six entrances?
41:02Six, six entrances.
41:03I think this place
41:04does have a lot of potential.
41:07...reveals a new trail of evidence.
41:10Beautiful.
41:11Hey, Chad,
41:12we got something
41:13really interesting in here.
41:15And an unexplored entrance
41:17they believe could lead
41:18to the underground chamber.
41:20Gold or silver,
41:21it's all going to be right in there.
41:22He keeps on going.
41:23Look at this s***.
41:24Whoa, stop, Chad.
41:26What's the thing right there?
41:27Holy s***.
