Just Meat Protein co-founder Ellie Whelan explains how the team developed their formula using hydrolysed meat.

00:00So in my hand I have an orange flavoured protein drink which has our hydrolyzed meat protein in it.
00:07So it's designed for the sports nutrition market and each one of this has about 15 grams of protein in it.
00:14So we have developed a novel technology which essentially takes low value cups of meat,
00:19so meat that might have otherwise been sent to pet food or landfill,
00:23into a high value nutrient dense protein powder.
00:27So it's essentially a meat based protein powder which gives you an alternative to other protein ingredients such as whey or plant based.
00:34It's got a very mild taste, so that's part of the process.
00:38We work really hard to take out all of the flavour profiles and end up with a powder which is almost flavourless, colourless, odourless.
00:46And there is a little bit of a residual flavour left in the powder, but it's very simple to mask by formulation.
00:53So for the likes of this orange flavoured drink, you wouldn't even know that it's in there.
