00:00Let's get off to what I would say is a disappointing training camp start.
00:04I mean, injury to a photographer would have been one thing,
00:06falling off that little into the river, taking the picture of the Browns.
00:10But it got even worse yesterday.
00:12Kenny Pickett injures his hamstring in practice.
00:15Not that he would be a major factor on the team,
00:17but if you're just simply domino falling here at this point,
00:21it does seem to me that that gives Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders a chance to open up,
00:25at least on the roster.
00:27And I know that Cleveland, as you know, Jacob, they're going to say all the right things.
00:31And then all of a sudden in a week, we're going to hear like Pup List or something like that.
00:35It's just generally the way that this works.
00:36But it does solve the issue of carrying four quarterbacks on the opening roster,
00:40if that's the way this is trending.
00:43Yeah, I think the most disappointing thing is that it's a hamstring injury.
00:46And, you know, the old adage of soft tissue injuries, those tend to linger.
00:50So even though they're saying they're reevaluating him in a week,
00:54they expect it to be on the minor side.
00:56But it's something that will require management.
00:58And I think there had been some hope, just at least from some of the reports I've read,
01:02that Kenny Pickett would kind of emerge as the starter,
01:05give the Browns some upside at the quarterback position, you know,
01:08more so than Joe Flacco,
01:10allowing Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders to develop behind the scenes and eventually challenge him.
01:16But the calculus now changes because if you're looking at a situation where you're saying,
01:20well, we want a veteran to open the season as our starting quarterback,
01:22that's going to open the door for Joe Flacco, 40-year-old Joe Flacco, to potentially win that job.
01:28And, you know, he's been solid for the Browns in recent seasons.
01:32But there's little doubt that having Joe Flacco start for this team at quarterback is probably not going to make them any sort of a contender.
01:40So I think if you're a Browns fan, you're probably looking at this and saying,
01:43man, I really want to see one of the young quarterbacks play and Pickett getting hurt might hurt that situation.
01:49I guess the one bright side is if it does turn into a longer-term injury, like you mentioned,
01:54they can kind of stash him on IR and keep Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders
01:59and then buy a little extra time to evaluate quarterback.
02:02But disappointing nonetheless, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
02:05This remains the most wide-open quarterback competition in the league.
